  AVIATION MUSEUMS AND THE HOUSTON SPACE CENTRE:

COMMEMORATIVE AIR FORCE MUSEUM, SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: A magnificent collection of flight certified mainly World War 2 Aircraft. A huge hangar houses the collection including a B25 Mitchell Bomber.

The image depicts a Harvard AT-6 Red Tail Aircraft.  

Australian National Aviation Museum, Victoria: A wide range of Commercial and RAAF Exhibits including a Fairy Gannet.     Texas Air Museum, San Antonio, Texas: A smaller Museum with some great Aircraft.  
Lone Star Flight Museum, Texas: Great Aircraft, the P51 Mustang, B17  and a gorgeous F4U Corsair.     1940 Air Terminal Museum: The Terminal contains some interesting Commercial Aircraft historical exhibits.

HOUSTON AND JOHNSON SPACE CENTRES, HOUSTON, TEXAS: An absolute must visit in Houston, there were limited displays of genuine NASA Historical Spacecraft, nevertheless the Saturn 5 Rocket and the NASA Command Centre at the Johnson Space Centre were fantastic.

  RAILWAYS, RAIL AND TRAMWAY MUSEUMS:

GALVESTON RAIL MUSEUM, GALVESTON, TEXAS: Home of the Santa Fe 'Warbonnets', the Museum includes a wide variety of Steam and Diesel Locomotives, Passenger and Freight cars. The 'Ghosts of Travellers Past, circa 1932' was a somewhat scary Exhibition during my visit.

Santa Fe Depot & Rail Museum, Temple, Texas: A busy Santa Fe Depot and adjacent Museum.   Puffing Billy, Victoria: The narrow gauge Puffing Billy Railway started in 1900!  
Texas State Railroad, Palestine & Rusk Rail Depots: Great examples of Steam & Diesel Locomotives and Rolling Stock.   Sydney Tramway Museum: Trams from NSW, Victoria, Germany, Japan and the USA. 
  V8 SUPERCARS, DRAG RACING, FESTIVALS OF MOTORSPORT & AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUMS:

V8 SUPERCARS, AUSTIN 400, TEXAS, 2013: The 'Car of the Future' (COTF) meets the Circuit of the Americas (COTA)! The inaugural V8 Supercars race in the United States.

The image depicts the #36: Nissan Altima V8 Supercar.  

V8 Supercars, Red Bull Test Day, Willowbank, 2013: Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and critically, CASEY STONER!     CIK Stars of Karting, 2013: Round 1 was held at the Ipswich Kart Club, Willowbank, Qld.  
The Phillip Island Classic, 2013: The annual 'Festival of Motorsport' included cars from the Porsche Museum.   Street Rod Nationals, Gold Coast, 2013: A huge display of Hot Rods and Street Machines at Parklands. 

V8 SUPERCARS TEST DAY, 2013: Australia's Premier Motorsport Series, the 2013 Series commenced with a Test Day at Sydney Motorsport Park. Most Teams attended the event, testing updated cars known as the 'Car of the Future' (COTF). More critically Mercedes Benz and Nissan tested their new entries in the Series.

Dicks Classic Car Museum, Texas: Arguably the most beautiful collection of Classic Cars I have ever photographed.     Garterbelts & Gasoline Hot Rod Carnival, 2013: Hot Rods, Cruisers and Motorcycles, plenty of memorabilia.  
Lone Star Street Rod State Run, Texas, 2013: A wide range of Street Rods took part in this Annual Event.     Garterbelts &Gasoline Vintage Soap Box Derby, 2013: More entries and more excitement, a great Event.  

SUPER 3 EXTREME DRAG RACE, WILLOWBANK, 2013: Santos Cranes sponsored a unique Drag Racing Event featuring Top Fuel Dragsters, Top Alcohol Dragsters, 3 x NHRA Top Fuel Champion LARRY DIXON and NHRA Top Fuel/Funny Car Crew Chief LEE BEARD.

The image depicts LARRY DIXON on his first 'VERY SCARY' qualifying run. 

Nostalgia Drags, Willowbank, Round 1, 2013: Cruzin Magazine sponsored a meeting of Nostalgic Car and Bike Drags.         
Ormeau Fair, Classic Car Show, 2013: Part of the 7th Anniversary Fair, a good collection of Classic Cars, mainly Corvettes.         
  WAR MUSEUMS, BATTLEGROUNDS & MILITARY PARADES:

AUSTRALIAN ARMY TANK MUSEUM: Commemorating the Australian Light Horse and the Royal Australian Armoured Corps. The Museum is located in the grounds of the Puckapunyal Army Base, Victoria.

The image depicts a Centurion Mk 5 Main Battle Tank outside the Museum. 

Battleship Texas (BB35), La Porte, Texas: Launched in 1912, the USS Texas is a massive 34,000 ton Battleship.     Museum of the Pacific War, Fredericksburg, Texas: Three dedicated Museums commemorate the Pacific War. 
San Jacinto Battleground Site, La Porte, Texas: A Memorial Site commemorating the San Jacinto battle.    Annual US Forces River Parade, San Antonio, Texas: A celebration of US Forces using floats along the River Walk. 
  TEXAS: THE ALAMO & SELECTED CITIES:

THE ALAMO, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: An amazing structure, the Facade and some wall structure is all that remains of the original Mission.

The image depicts the facade of the Alamo at night, a must to photograph. 

Houston, Texas: Named in memory of Sam Houston.     Crockett, Texas: Named in memory of David Crockett. Davy passed through the area on the way to the Alamo.
Waco, Texas: Centrally located between Austin and Dallas, the famous Waco Suspension Bridge is one of many attractions.   Galveston, Texas: A huge seaside island offering a wide array of attractions and beautiful buildings and homes.  
  WATER SPORTS, HERITAGE RALLIES & MISCELLANEOUS:

V8 SUPERBOATS, 2013: The Hi-Tec Oils Australian Championship Series included three Rounds at the Tweed Heads Jetsprint Course, New South Wales. My coverage includes images from various Rounds.

The image depicts the 'Pepsi NEXT'  V8 Superboat.  

Moomba Masters Championships, 2013: The Men's and Women's Trick Finals on the Yarra River, Victoria.     Comicpalooza, Texas, 2013: My first Convention incorporating Galacticon3, celebrating Battlestar Galactica.  
Phillip Island, Victoria: The beautiful coastline of Phillip Island including flora and fauna on this scenic island.     HDR Photography: I am experimenting with HDR Photography.

SCRS 32nd ANNUAL HERITAGE RALLY, PIMPAMA, QUEENSLAND, 2013: The Rally had it all, Engines, Classic Cars and Motorcycles, Historic Tractors and farming displays. The Rally highlight was the 'Porter Steam Roller' which ran for the first time in sixty years.

The image depicts the  'Porter Steam Roller' during it's successful run.  

Gold Coast Hinterland Heritage Museum: A time capsule of days gone by, highlighting the history of Mudgeeraba.     Logan Heritage Machinery Rally, 2013: The inaugural Heritage and Machinery Rally at Loganvillage.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Victoria: Located in Cranbourne,  highlighting the 'Australian Garden' and 'Australian Flora'.

  ISLE OF MAN TT (TOURIST TROPHY) MOTORCYCLE RACES:

ISLE OF MAN TT, 2007: The Centenary Year, celebrating 100 years of the Tourist Trophy Races on the Isle of Man. The TT fortnight included a re-enactment of the first TT at the St. Johns Circuit, Parade Laps and fantastic racing.

The image depicts John McGuinness accepting the Winners Laurels for his Senior TT win.

Isle of Man TT, 2008: The 101st TT  celebrated the 30th anniversary of Mike Hailwood's 1978 winning return to the TT.   Isle of Man TT, 2010: The 103rd anniversary of the most famous road race in the world. Ian Hutchinson, 5 out of 5!
Isle of Man TT, 2009: The 102nd TT celebrated Honda's 50th year at the TT and the first officially sanctioned ZEV Race in the world.   Isle of Man TT, 2011: The 100th year of the Mountain Circuit and Yamaha's 50th year of GP racing.  
  INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE MUSEUMS:

RACE BIKES AT THE HONDA HALL, MOTEGI, JAPAN: A fantastic display of Honda's Racing Motorcycles. Singles, Twins, Fours Fives and the Mighty Sixes are all on display.

The image depicts one of Honda's glorious Straight Six engines from their Golden Era of Racing in the 1960's.

Production Bikes at the Honda Hall, Motegi: The Honda Production Bike Collection including the CB750/4!     Beaulieu Bike Museum: Part of the Car Museum with plenty of Road and Racing Motorcycles.  
UK Motorcycle Museum: The largest Motorcycle Museum I have visited, magic history of British Motorcycling.   The London Motorcycle Museum: A small but nevertheless interesting Museum of British bikes.

THE SAMMY MILLER MUSEUM, ENGLAND: How do I describe this Museum, I quote the Museum's Official Website description, (many consider the Museum houses the finest collection of fully restored motorcycles in Europe, many of them very rare). I was very impressed and when I met Sammy I was totally convinced, the Museum, the Man, simply fantastic.

San Diego Motorcycle Museum: Part of the Car Museum with a wide range of Bikes, mainly Indian.
  The Solvang Motorcycle Museum, California: Hidden away in a gorgeous city in California, bike nirvana!
  AUSTRALIAN MOTORCYCLE RACING, CONCOURS EVENTS & MUSEUMS:

CLUB LAVERDA CONCOURS, CLEVELAND, 2012: The annual event was sponsored by Castrol and Shannons Insurance. The event assists the Make A Wish Foundation. And what an event it was, World Class Motorcycles, Outfits and Three Wheelers with significant trade displays ensured a great attendance.

Intern'. Island Classic, Phillip Island, 2011: A fantastic event with Cam Donald and Jeremy McWilliams.   24 Hour Le Minz Scooterthon, 2011: 24 Hours of racing for 50cc Motor Scooters, only in Queensland.  
Barry Sheene FOS, EC, 2011: The Festival included a Trans Tasman Challenge and brilliant sidecar action.   Le Minz Scooterthon, 2012: 24 Hours on 50cc Scooters, 2012 included a Dream Team.  

THE CASTROL SIX HOUR: Arguably the greatest Annual Production Motorcycle Racing Event of the modern era. The Castrol Six Hour Series came as close to 'pure production racing' as possible. I attended all the Amaroo Park races and they remain the most enthralling annual races I have ever attended.

PI Eight Hour, 2011: The inaugural Eight Hour Endurance Race for motorcycles at Phillip Island.     Phil Irving Concours, 2012: The 30th Anniversary Concours with Motorcycle exhibits from Veteran to Historic.  
Bel-Ray Six Hour, Phillip Island, 2010: The second running of the Bel-Ray sponsored event was a beauty.   Gold Coast Motorcycle Expo, 2012: Motorcycles, Scooters, FMX and Trials.  

LAKESIDE QUEENSLAND, 1976~1978: Road Racing at Lakeside Park, Queensland. Gregg Hansford, Murray and Jeff Sayle, Rick Perry, Warren Willing and Stan Bayliss were just some of the great Aussie Riders that competed at the Lake.

The Coca Cola 800, 1980: An 800km race at Sydney's Oran Park attracted some of Australia's greatest Riders.   VJMC Australia: The various VJMC Events I have attended, great machinery, great locations.
The Laverton TT, Victoria, 1976: Kenny Blake won the Senior from Ago, however the Hansford Hennen battle stole the show.   The National Motor Racing Museum: The motorcycle section is covered here with Gregg Hansford's motorcycles.

  BROOKLANDS DOUBLE 12, THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL & FESTIVAL OF SPEED:

BROOKLANDS DOUBLE TWELVE, 2011: There is so much history at Brooklands, Record Breaking Cars and Motorcycles, Aviation and thankfully some of the banked circuit still remains.

The image depicts a 42 Litre W12 Packard powered Bentley belching fire during an engine test session. 

Goodwood Revival, 2009: The Golden Age of Racing, Period Costumes, Sir Stirling Moss, the Revival has it all.
  Goodwood FOS, 2011: The world's largest car event, includes  motorcycles and aircraft. 
  MISCELLANEOUS:

TASMAN REVIVAL, 2012:  The fourth running of the Revival and the 50th Anniversary of the Australian Formula Junior Series. The biennial event celebrates the Tasman Series of the 1960's and 1970's, the original Series included races in Australia and New Zealand.

Gold Coast Street Rodders, 2012: The 18th anniversary Annual Show and Swap Meet was held at Robina, Queensland   NSWGR Museum, 2012: A massive Museum with exhibits of NSW Gov't. Railways.  
Geelong Revival, 2012: Reviving the Geelong Sprints and Speed Trials, a wide variety of Cars and Bikes competed.     Bellarine Rail Museum, 2012: Maintaining the Locomotives and Rolling Stock, an ongoing effort by Volunteers.  

PAN PACIFIC GAMES, 2012: Claimed to be the World's biggest biennial Masters Games, the 'PanPacs' were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland. 12,000+ Competitors and 38 Sports ensured a wide range of activities over the nine day Event.

Garterbelts & Gasoline Hot Rod Carnival, 2012: Hot Rods & Cruisers, a four day annual event  at Mount Tamborine, Qld.      RAAF Museum Point Cook, 2012: The largest collection of Australian Military Aviation  in the world.  
Pro Street Finals, Sydney Dragway, 2012: The APSA Pro Street final round, turbo heaven.     National Veteran Tour, 2012: Ipswich, Queensland hosted a week of driving and displaying Veteran Vehicles. 

V8 SUPERBOATS, 2012: Round 4 of the Hi-Tec Oils Australian Championship was held at the Tweed Heads Jetsprint Course, New South Wales. A mixture of Drag Racing, Rallying and Jet Skiing, this sport has it all and the course offers a natural amphitheatre for spectators.

Jamboree, Willowbank, 2012: Australia's largest hi-tech Drag Racing and Import Car Event.   Watercross Nationals, 2012: Held on Queensland's, Gold Coast. A magic spectacle of speed and agility.  
Pro Street Shootout, Willowbank, 2012: The APSA Pro Street Shootout included a wide variety of Drag Cars.   Jet Skis, 2012: Jetpilot Water Zone action at the 2012 Gold Coast Motorcycle Expo.  

WINTERNATIONALS, WILLOWBANK, 2012: The 45th Anniversary Winternationals was held at Willowbank, Queensland. Over five days some of Australia's best two and four wheel Drag Racers vied for the various ANDRA National Championships on offer.

Mopar Sunday, Willowbank, 2012: The 75th anniversary of Mopar and the 10th anniversary 'Mopar Sunday'   Lakeside Classic, 2012: A Festival of Touring Cars, including Groups A, C and N, Trans Am, HQ's and Regularity classes.
Nostalgia Nationals, Willowbank, 2012: Turning back the clock, Classic, Vintage, Hot Rods and Motorcycle Drag Racing.   CIK Stars of Karting, 2012: Round 3 was held at the Ipswich Kart Club, Willowbank, Queensland. Over 130 Entrants competed.

MACLEAN'S BRIDGE AT LAKESIDE, 2012: A 'Sports and Classic Car Festival' marking the 37th year of displays. Classes included a Concours d'Elegance, a somewhat unique Concours d'Facsimile and various Club and Marque displays.

The image is close up of a gorgeous 1959 Corvette C1 which was entered in the Concours d'Elegance class.  

Vintage Soap Box Derby, 2012: The Derby preceded the Hot Rod Carnival at Mount Tamborine, Qld.      Bird Photography: An ongoing challenge, to photograph Birds all over the World.  
Redland City Rally, 2012: A massive gathering of Vintage, Classic, Touring and Sports Cars.     Geelong, Victoria: The Victorian Seaside suburb offers some beautiful scenery.  

 

The Porsche Museum, Stuttgart: Mechanical nirvana, truly a must visit. Marvellous machinery.  

 

The Mercedes Museum, Stuttgart: Magic history and machinery in this Museum.  

 

Petersen Auto Museum, Las Vegas: Veteran, Racing, Drag Racing and Land Speed Record and Hollywood Cars.

 

Las Vegas - The Auto Collections: A selection of beautiful vehicles in the heart of Las Vegas. 

 

Cars at the Honda Hall, Motegi: The full gambit of Honda Cars, from the S500 to Fuel Cells and Formula 1.

 

Robots at the Honda Hall, Motegi: Amazing, Honda continues to lead the way developing Humanoid Robots.

 

Coventry Transport Museum: A wide range of British Road and Race machinery.

 

Shelby World HQ, Las Vegas: The home of Carroll Shelby's magic Cobras, GT40s and Mustangs.  

 

Beaulieu Car Museum: Classic Cars, LSR Cars, F1 Race Cars and the Museum setting, magic.  

 

St. Judes Car Museum, Nevada: A collection of Historic Vehicles owned by Richie Clyne.  

 

San Diego Car Museum: A diverse range of Cars from Rods to Cruisers and a cool VW Kombi.  

 

RAF Museums: A wonderful collection of aircraft and memorabilia in London and Cosford UK.

 

The Shuttleworth Collection: A collection of vintage aeroplanes maintained in full working order.  

 

   

 

   

 

Redcliffe Kitefest, 2012: Heralded as a visual spectacular it delivered with a massive array of Kites and colours.  

 

WSBK, Phillip Island, 2011: Four BMW S1000RR's competed, however Carlos Checa won on a Ducati.

 

Mercedes Benz 125th Birthday, 2011: Mercedes Benz World 125th at Brooklands and Sir John Surtees OBE.

 

Rail Museums: The Nevada State and Northern Museums, plus the Didcot Railway Centre, UK, marvellous.

 

Bonneville, 2011: Speedweek on the Salt Flats, wow! Plenty of marvellous machines and 'characters'.

 

Mustang 30th Anniv'. Concours, 2011: Queensland's Gold Coast hosted a great display of Ford Mustangs.

 

Wakeboard Nationals, 2011: The Gold Coast 'Spit' Marine Stadium hosted some great action.  

 

Tasman Revival, Eastern Creek, 2010: A magic event with Sir Jack Brabham, a revival of the Tasman Series.

 

The Phillip Island Classic, 2011: Porsche's 60th Anniversary in Australia, Moby Dick came from Stuttgart!

 

MotoGP, Phillip Island, 2010: Casey Stoner achieved the 'quadfecta' on his last ride for the  Ducati factory.

 

Garterbelts and Gasoline, 2011: A Soap Box Derby and a spectacular Hot Rod Show, tremendous!

 

WSBK, Phillip Island, 2010: The second appearance of the BMW S1000RR with an Ex Ducati Boss at the helm!

 

San Diego Air & Space Museum: A fantastic display of aircraft from the Wright Brothers to the Space Shuttle.

 

United States of America: Wow, so far I have visited the states of California and Nevada.

 

Area 51: During my visit to the United States, I had to investigate Area 51 in Rachel, Nevada!

 

Amelia Earhart: I have researched her life and follow  investigations into her disappearance.  

 

The Isle of Man: One of the most beautiful places I have been and the people of the Island, marvellous.

WEBSITE HISTORY: I developed this website following my first international trip to the Isle of Man Centenary TT Motorcycle Races in June 2007, a pivotal time for me. The site has evolved beyond anything I ever imagined, covering records of my entire photography collection, I hope you find something of interest. Under the  'Aussie Road Racing'  pages I am constantly updating details of recent events. I am developing my recollections and historical photography from the Castrol Six Hour Series, the Coca Cola 800, the Laverton TT and other selected events I have attended. Pages are also dedicated to the Isle of Man TT, Goodwood, Brooklands, MotoGP, World Superbikes, Motorcycle Shows, Club Displays and Museums, Formula 1, Drag Racing, Go-Karts, The Need for Speed and general Car topics including Rallies and Museums. I have started Sports Carnival and Water Sports photography including Wakeboarding, Water Skiing, Jet Ski and V8 Jet Sprint Boat racing.

My Hobbies include Motorcycle Road Racing, Formula 1 and V8 Supercar Racing, Computers, Digital Photography, Chess, Video Games, Marklin Model Railways, Model Making, Slot Cars, the History of Aviation, Space Exploration and Railways.  Oh and all things Robin Hood, Vikings and Unsolved Mysteries, including particularly the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the Loch Ness Monster, the Oak Island Money Pit, the Nazca Lines in Peru and 'Area51'!
