THE NATIONAL VETERAN TOUR, 2012 - VETERAN CAR DISPLAY: The Concours d'Elegance of the Veteran Tour. The Ipswich Showgrounds Ring was encircled by Veteran Cars with Trade Displays in the centre. A wonderful array of vehicles rivalling anything I have viewed at the likes of Goodwood and Brooklands, absolutely first class.
SELECTED VETERAN CARS: 1914: STANDARD 'RHYL' - COVENTRY: Powered by a four cylinder 1,087cc engine producing 9.5hp and driving through a three speed gearbox.
1907: FORD 'EXPERIMENTAL SIX CYLINDER': Unique, the only car of it's type in the world. The car was developed from the Ford Types N, R and S from the 1906~1908 era. The car predates the Model T Ford and incorporates an 'experimental six cylinder engine' which developed 33hp.
MODEL T FORD: Without question the most popular type of Veteran Car on display.
1910: HUPMOBILE:
1912: CADILLAC: Significant claims here, the first car to incorporate 'electric start', electric ignition and electric lighting' systems. Powered by a four cylinder engine of 286.3 cu. in. displacement.
1911: EMPIRE EAGLE:
