1933 NAPIER-RAILTON: Staggering, designed by Reid Railton, following a commission by John Cobb, this car holds the outright lap speed at Brooklands of 230.84kmh (143.44mph). The exhausts had me wondering, research soon clarified a naturally aspirated W12 configuration with a total displacement of 23.944 litres!! producing just over 500bhp. The W12 is arranged in three banks of four cylinder engines which accounts for the three entirely separate exhaust systems. The braking department is somewhat light on with rear brakes only.
1959 BRISTOL 406: Well actually I am advised it is a 1959 chassis with a 'Talbot Lago' inspired recently manufactured Teardrop Coupe body. Whatever the precise details, this car stopped everybody in their proverbial tracks, a beautiful shape. The paintwork superb. In fact I believe this car was the most outstanding vehicle at the Revival.
1965 LOTUS-CLIMAX 32B: The name over the headers caught my attention immediately, I was fortunate to witness Jim Clark OBE racing at Sydney's now defunct Warwick Farm with team mate Graham Hill, both sadly gone now. The 32B is immaculate, powered by a 2495cc Climax engine.
1968~1969 GULF GT40: One of my all time favourite race cars, even though it is a Ford. Two examples were parked in the 'Gulf Garage', so of course in I went, the entry fee did include some Sponsor's duties!
RACE CARS FOR THE ROAD: The Revival included a 'Race Cars for the Road' display in the Goodwood Museum.
